These are the features buyers are looking for 🌟
American Institute of Architects released the AIA Home Design Trend Survey for Q3 of 2021:
-70% of respondents want more outdoor living space 🌳: Think private backyards, indoor – outdoor spaces and outdoor amenities. We cannot stress the importance of outdoor living for most buyers.
-69% of respondents want a home office (48% wanted multiple offices): With so many people transitioning to working from home and so many people being stuck at the kitchen table, it is no surprise that this is one of the first requests we receive from buyers. Also, it is a great reminder of how important it is to highlight home office space when listing your home for sale. Even if all you have to work with is a guest room or small nook, incorporating a great work from home space is going to be important if you’re listing your home anytime soon.
-46% of respondents want a multi-function room/flexible space
-42% of respondents want an au pair / in-law suite: This is another request we keep seeing more and more of. We have recently had numerous buyers looking for private spaces for their parents. The need for multi-generational living seems to be very strong.
-39% of respondents want an exercise room / yoga space: This seems to be another trend that has just continued to increase especially after the last year or so. And also the quality and quantity of at home work out equipment and classes has increased.
Which one of these trends is most important to you!?
